The perfect compliment to Fabspeed's 997.2 Turbo exhaust upgrades, this high performance intake plenum from Innovative Pro Design provides substantial power gains by increasing the efficiency and flow of the engine's air intake system.
FEATURES:
The incredible 997.2 Porsche Turbo received a completely redesigned engine with many substantial upgrades. This latest Turbo is the most powerful, revolutionary and capable Porsche Turbo to ever come out of Stuttgart. The 997.2 Porsche Turbo may have been labeled a "facelift" but the engine is another major evolutionary leap forward in Porsche's coveted Turbo history. This 7th generation Turbo engine, titled the 9A1, delivers 500 HP (530 HP in "S" models) and once again, raises the performance bar in the sports car world.
IPD Plenum:
The new 997.2 IPD Turbo Plenum was considerably more difficult to design and develop than previous Plenums. The good news is that all these efforts have yielded a much easier installation process than previous Turbo Plenums. The new IPD Turbo Plenum is offered in one single 74mm version which utilizes the factory 74mm throttle body. The 997.2 Turbo intake manifolds are smaller than the 997.1 Turbo manifolds which is great for improved boost response and gas mileage but less than ideal for making substantial power gains. The 74mm TB provides more than adequate flow for these more restrictive intake runners eliminating the need for a larger 82mm "Competition" version.
The already explosive power of the 997.2 Turbo can be further increased with the new 997.2 Turbo IPD Intake Plenum. The patented IPD Plenum design works exceptionally well with all forced induction applications and the 997.2 Turbo is no exception. Power and torque increases provided by the IPD plenum are impressive and stay well above all factory power curves from launch to redline. Maximum power increases take place in the midrange where it's most needed, most critical and most enjoyed.
The 997.2 Turbo plenums deliver smooth and linear power with considerably quicker boost response creating a longer and more desirable power band. The Turbo plenums deliver reliable performance for both street and motorsport applications enhancing the already visceral Porsche Turbo driving experience.
The 997.2 Turbo requires an "adaptation" period that can be fully realized with either a series of hard pulls on the dyno or a series of spirited driving sessions, which of course IPD recommends only be performed on a closed course circuit. Installation of all Turbo Plenums is highly recommended to be performed by qualified and trained Porsche technicians.
IPD Y Pipe:
The revolutionary 997.2 Turbo IPD "Y" Pipe was built for the more demanding Turbo performance customer. This is not a cast reproduction of the factory Y pipe but a complete re-design from scratch, developed to deliver even greater air flow for both stock AND highly modified Turbos.
The factory Y pipe becomes restrictive when adding substantial power gains. The IPD "Y" Pipe has larger inlets and an optimized diversion area allowing for even greater power gains. This superior and more efficient design flows 126 more cfm than the factory Y pipe delivering the additional power needed to raise the performance bar on any Turbo.
Bigger isn't always better, and the IPD "Y" Pipe is designed to deliver optimum flow without being too large causing a loss in boost response. These "Y" Pipes can also be special ordered in custom powder coated colors and ceramic coatings or polished to improve the aesthetic appeal of your Turbo engine.
The IPD 997.2 Turbo Y Pipe is designed to be a direct replacement of the factory OEM Y Pipe. There are no modifications or fabrication required for installing the IPD Y Pipe. This is an easy and straight forward R & R (remove and reinstall) bolt on upgrade.
Superior and more efficient design over the factory intake.
The IPD Plenums are products of efficiency that simply improve intake air flow and increase air velocity. The “Y” shape design and dimpled interior surface make air flow more laminar (less turbulent) dramatically improving power and torque across the entire RPM band. Smoother more optimized intake air flow will improve the performance of any engines. The more efficiently an engine breaths, the more efficiently it produces power.
Deliver impressive power gains regardless of modifications.
The superior design of the IPD Plenums optimize flow while increasing air velocity. Period! This applies to any Porsche engine, producing any level of power. The patented “Y” design delivers impressive performance gains for both bone-stock and highly modified Porsches. The more efficient design of the IPD Plenum will always outperform the factory air distributor. The factory intake will become even more detrimental to performance as your increase the power and torque outputs. The bigger the power, the better the IPD Plenum performs.
Produce substantial gains for both turbo and NA applications.
The Plenums always deliver considerable gains on both turbo AND naturally aspirated engines. It's a fact that the Turbo Plenums do produce more power than the NA Plenums. But the Turbo engines also produce more power. The fact is that the percentage gains of the different Plenum applications are actually almost identical, around 8-10% depending on the specific model.
Do not require an ECU flash and will not cause a CEL.
IPD Plenums should never cause a CEL or require an ECU Flash. If a Plenum is installed correctly there should be no fault codes or running issues, only solid performance gains across the entire RPM band. The only issue that could possibly arise is the need for a new MAF sensor if you already have a degraded sensor or perform a TB adaptation. There is absolutely no need to re-flash your ECU after installing an IPD Plenum, Period! Although any reputable Porsche tuner could further optimize an ECU program to achieve even greater performance gains with the Plenum installed.
Aluminum Plenums run cooler and don't suffer from heat soak.
The Aluminum Plenums do NOT experience heat soak under driving or racing conditions. It is true that aluminum has a higher thermal conductivity than plastic. In fact, aluminum is 650 times more thermally conductive than plastic and has a specific heat capacity that is 550 times higher than plastic. This means the aluminum Plenum actually spreads the energy it's exposed to 656 times faster than the plastic and can store more than 550 times the amount of energy per unit mass. Bottom line, aluminum can absorb more heat than plastic, but it also takes considerably more energy to heat up and it's losing that energy way faster than the aluminum allowing the IPD Plenum to remain cooler from outside ambient air under driving conditions, ultimately improving engine performance over plastic. Plus, why would Porsche utilize aluminum intakes on GT3's, GT2's, Cup Cars and Cup R's?
NOTE: If you are upgrading your throttle body along with the IPD Plenum, you may need to visit a dealership to have them perform a manual throttle body adaptation process. Some customers have reported that installing the throttle body and plenum while the battery is disconnected results in the car performing an adaptation check once the battery is reconnected, alleviating the need to visit a dealership. However, Fabspeed recommends having the adaptation performed at a certified dealership for optimal results. If you need a recommendation for a dealership in your area, please contact us.

Been a regular customer for a while now and I must say that they're the best at what they do! Bought a number of upgrades for my 991.1 911 Turbo from Scott and absolutely love the extra power and sounds! Top notch quality and service, would recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their car at any level of performance.
Very special thank you to DJ at Fabspeed. DJ answered my call late in the business day. We chatted about exhaust options available for my air cooled Porsche. He was very patient and knowledgeable. I told him I'd call the next day to follow up as I wanted to do more research on their products. I call the next day, speak to DJ, and settle on several performance parts for my Porsche. Best part, all items were in stock and able to be picked up since I'm local to their shop. I arrive at the shop at the agreed upon time. Items were already packaged and ready for pick up. The cherry on top was an offer from DJ to tour the shop and see "where the magic happens." I really appreciated this and enjoyed hearing about how Fabspeed started and where it's headed. Now that I'm part of their community, I'm looking forward to attending their open houses. I will be back in the future. Fabspeed is more than a "shop." They want to build lasting relationships with their clients while remaining on the cutting edge of product development. Kudos to the entire team.
i have made the installation of the FABSPEED Sport cats and Sport headers on my 2017 Porsche 991.2 Carrera 4 cab at my Porsche Center yesterday and iam very satisfied. Still quiet when the PSE is off and very loud in sport and sport+ mode, i like so much the backfire who are this time stronger and the turbo noise who is more noticeable. Iam very happy of the sound a lot better of the original one, thanks you FABSPEED
Just got my Fabspeed Maxflo Mufflers installed on my BMW E90 M3! Could not be happier. I have a fully catless setup, and had trouble finding a suitable rear section that would bring the car to reasonable volume levels, reduce drone, and cut down on the inherent "raspiness" of the S65. This exhaust ticks all the boxes! The volume level is surprisingly tame for the car being fully catless, but certainly louder than the stock rear section. In-cabin noise or "drone" while cruising is greatly reduced compared to the muffler delete I was running previously. Exhaust is absolutely perfect for a daily driver. The "rasp" is just right as well. Sounds incredible on the downshifts. Power and low end torque, surprisingly enough, increased greatly. I keep getting compliments from people at car shows, gas stations, and even at stoplights. Fabspeed was an excellent company to deal with as well. The owner Joe Fabiani is a stand up guy, and scheduled me in super early on a Wednesday morning so I could make a business meeting later in the day. The service was fast and professional, and their tech Dustin walked me through the exhaust setup on my car, and allowed me to customize my choice of tips, and assure their placement is perfectly to my liking. I've read some distasteful reviews of Fabspeed as of late, but the majority of them are frankly not true. I am a former employee of the company, and have seen all the ins and outs of the sales team and fabrication facility. There is nothing out of the ordinary to see, and they will give any walk in customer a full tour of the facility showing off the cool equipment that they have to produce their systems. The recent slew of slander and distasteful reviews stem from one customer who tracked his car with a Fabspeed product not designed for the track, voided his warranty, and was stuck with the product. Fabspeed eventually made the situation right, but this customer has a reputation for slandering other businesses and throwing them under the bus for his own personal gain. It is painful to watch a company such as Fabspeed have to endure something like this, hence why I feel the need to address it in this review. Overall, great friendly service, awesome product, cool facility, and one AMAZING sound!
months before i put down my deposit on my custom ordered P car, i already knew which exhaust was going on it. even though there weren't any youtube vids of the system, i relied on the opinion of the Fabspeed employee and other forum members who had the system on their cars to tell me the characteristics of the exhaust. so, when there was a Father's Day sale, i pounced on it and had the exhaust sitting in my living room several weeks before i took delivery of my car. craftsmanship on the macan turbo slip system is flawless. no damage during shipping transit, either. the CF tips look awesome. install, done by a specialty shop near me, was done within 1.5 hours. system sounds exactly how i wanted it to sound; loud, pops, bangs, burbles, etc., etc. i even ordered some extra decals and they were kind enough to not charge me for shipping! now that's customer service.
