The perfect compliments to Fabspeed's exhaust upgrades, this high performance intake plenum and y-pipe from Innovative Pro Design provides substantial power gains by increasing the efficiency and flow of the engine's air intake system.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • Fits all Porsche 991.2 GT2 RS vehicles (2018+)

FEATURES:

IPD Plenum

IPD took delivery of its 991.2 Turbo S and the R & D started the second it arrived at its new home. The new Turbo doesn't substantially benefit from any one particular upgrade, but the sum of its improvements deliver a superior overall Turbo compared to the already impressive 991.1 Turbo it replaces. Yes, we know the latest Turbo is faster with 20 more horsepower but it's the combination of lightening shifts, razor sharp handling and spiritual connection to the vehicle that elevates the driving experience of the extraordinary new 991.2 Turbo.

Porsche made a number of substantial upgrades with the latest 991.2 Turbo. Engine improvements include revised intake ports, larger injectors, higher volume fuel pump, larger turbo compressor wheels and more efficient intercoolers, but the factory intake system remained relatively unchanged allowing the IPD Plenum and Y-Pipe to fit with only minor modifications.

The 991.2 GT2 RS Plenum upgrade delivers staggering engine power and torque gains that will raise the performance bar of the already potent supercar as well as the hairs on your neck. Horsepower gains are found throughout the entire power band with the bulk of the gains being realized between the 3500-5000 RPM range. Max power gains of 45+ wheel HP come in at 4300 RPM and hold strong all the way to redline. Torque is even more impressive at 60+ in the mid-range with a massive torque gains from 3500-5000 RPM.

The plenums deliver smooth and linear power with considerably quicker boost response creating a longer and more desirable power band. The Turbo plenums deliver reliable performance for both street and motorsport applications enhancing the already visceral Porsche Turbo driving experience.

IPD Y-Pipe

The new Turbo IPD Y-Pipe delivers the same amazing proven performance as with the previous generation Turbo. Porsche made very few changes to the intake system from the 991 Turbo to the 991.2 Turbo. Ballistic acceleration and a top speed of over 200 mph places the new Turbo in a very elite class of supercars. But of course the IPD Y-Pipe (and Plenum) raise the performance bar even higher for Porsche driving enthusiasts who seek fighter jet performance from their German Turbo missiles. This superior design delivers greater volume of air, improved laminar flow and increased air velocity. These improvements deliver an additional 40+ wheel HP, 50+ Foot Pounds of Torque, improved boost response and more linear power and torque curves.

As we all know, bigger is not always better when it comes to forced induction applications. The IPD Y-Pipe is considerably larger than the factory but not so large as to cause pressure drop within the intake tract resulting in turbo lag and reduced performance. This optimized “no-round” design with dimpled interior surface cannot be achieved with conventional round tube construction.

The 991.2 Turbo Y-Pipe is a direct bolt-on engine upgrade that requires no modifications but should be perform by an experienced Porsche technician familiar with the 991 platform. Y-Pipes comes with all the required hardware necessary to complete the installation.

The 991.2 Turbo requires an "adaptation" period that can be fully realized with either a series of hard pulls on the dyno or a series of spirited driving sessions, which of course IPD recommends only be performed on a closed course circuit. Installation of all Turbo Plenums is highly recommended to be performed by qualified and trained Porsche technicians.

Design Notes

  1. Superior and more efficient design over the factory intake.
The IPD Plenums are products of efficiency that simply improve intake air flow and increase air velocity. The “Y” shape design and dimpled interior surface make air flow more laminar (less turbulent) dramatically improving power and torque across the entire RPM band. Smoother more optimized intake air flow will improve the performance of any engines. The more efficiently an engine breaths, the more efficiently it produces power.

  2. Deliver impressive power gains regardless of modifications.
The superior design of the IPD Plenums optimize flow while increasing air velocity. Period! This applies to any Porsche engine, producing any level of power. The patented “Y” design delivers impressive performance gains for both bone-stock and highly modified Porsches. The more efficient design of the IPD Plenum will always outperform the factory air distributor. The factory intake will become even more detrimental to performance as your increase the power and torque outputs. The bigger the power, the better the IPD Plenum performs.

  3. Produce substantial gains for both turbo and NA applications.
The Plenums always deliver considerable gains on both turbo AND naturally aspirated engines. It's a fact that the Turbo Plenums do produce more power than the NA Plenums. But the Turbo engines also produce more power. The fact is that the percentage gains of the different Plenum applications are actually almost identical, around 8-10% depending on the specific model.

  4. Do not require an ECU flash and will not cause a CEL.
IPD Plenums should never cause a CEL or require an ECU Flash. If a Plenum is installed correctly there should be no fault codes or running issues, only solid performance gains across the entire RPM band. The only issue that could possibly arise is the need for a new MAF sensor if you already have a degraded sensor or perform a TB adaptation. There is absolutely no need to re-flash your ECU after installing an IPD Plenum, Period! Although any reputable Porsche tuner could further optimize an ECU program to achieve even greater performance gains with the Plenum installed.

  5. Aluminum Plenums run cooler and don't suffer from heat soak.
The Aluminum Plenums do NOT experience heat soak under driving or racing conditions. It is true that aluminum has a higher thermal conductivity than plastic. In fact, aluminum is 650 times more thermally conductive than plastic and has a specific heat capacity that is 550 times higher than plastic. This means the aluminum Plenum actually spreads the energy it's exposed to 656 times faster than the plastic and can store more than 550 times the amount of energy per unit mass. Bottom line, aluminum can absorb more heat than plastic, but it also takes considerably more energy to heat up and it's losing that energy way faster than the aluminum allowing the IPD Plenum to remain cooler from outside ambient air under driving conditions, ultimately improving engine performance over plastic. Plus, why would Porsche utilize aluminum intakes on GT3's, GT2's, Cup Cars and Cup R's?

NOTE: If you are upgrading your throttle body along with the IPD Plenum, you may need to visit a dealership to have them perform a manual throttle body adaptation process. Some customers have reported that installing the throttle body and plenum while the battery is disconnected results in the car performing an adaptation check once the battery is reconnected, alleviating the need to visit a dealership. However, Fabspeed recommends having the adaptation performed at a certified dealership for optimal results. If you need a recommendation for a dealership in your area, please contact us.

Couldn't be happier. I wanted to add a little power to my Porsche 911 Carrera S (997.1) but didn't want check engine lights or obnoxious sound. I worked with Jason and ended up getting a GT3 throttle body and an IPD plenum with a BMC air filter and the famous Fabspeed Sport exhaust. I seriously couldn't be happier. Talk about bang for your buck! It's a whole new car. Everything works together perfectly. No torque loss at all, in fact, I found some. Mid range is more alive and she just doesn't stop pulling now. The sounds is pretty much the same at low RPMs but my God when you jump on it, it sounds fantastic. No highway drone at all. I was considering the x-pipe cat delete but Jason explained that Porsches, especially naturally aspirated (non turbo) like a little back pressure and if I was not looking for too aggressive sound I should stick with what he suggested. He knows his stuff because the car is now exactly everything I had hoped for. Best car money I have ever spent.

I have been using Fabspeed products in my cars. I've tried different things, Resonator bypass X-Pipe, Sports headers and blankets and others on my Ferrari, Audi, Porsche, Maserati, etc.... They are reliable as advertised and have a great customer supporting system available everywhere. I have a great confidence in their products and will continue to use them in future... A reliable company that really follows up with you.

Fabspeed did everything they could to help me with my exhaust system for my 718 GT4 (Miami Blue baby!). Joe Torchiana was my point of contact and he was exceedingly helpful throughout the whole process. I can’t recommend them more highly. The exhaust sounds great and really opens up the noise given the addition of the GPF on the 718 series. Thanks!

I absolutely love my new X Pipe exhaust for my Porsche Cayman. There was an issue with the new exhaust tips fitting correctly. I contacted Fabspeed and spoke with Ted. Their customer service is beyond anything I have ever experienced before. Ted shipped me a set of new exhaust tips and they fit perfectly. I've gotten many compliments on how they transform the look of the car. I will be ordering a full exhaust sometime next year and am excited it will be from Fabspeed. I recommend this company 12/10.

months before i put down my deposit on my custom ordered P car, i already knew which exhaust was going on it. even though there weren't any youtube vids of the system, i relied on the opinion of the Fabspeed employee and other forum members who had the system on their cars to tell me the characteristics of the exhaust. so, when there was a Father's Day sale, i pounced on it and had the exhaust sitting in my living room several weeks before i took delivery of my car. craftsmanship on the macan turbo slip system is flawless. no damage during shipping transit, either. the CF tips look awesome. install, done by a specialty shop near me, was done within 1.5 hours. system sounds exactly how i wanted it to sound; loud, pops, bangs, burbles, etc., etc. i even ordered some extra decals and they were kind enough to not charge me for shipping! now that's customer service.
